Fort Wayne, Ind. (Press Release) – The administration of Mayor Tom Henry today announced that several local small businesses and nonprofits have been recommended for assistance through funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA ) that have been allocated to the city of Fort Wayne.
The recommendations are the result of a thorough review of applications submitted earlier this year. The list of suggested recipients will be presented by resolution at the Tuesday, December 13, City Council meeting with possible discussion and approvals to come at the Tuesday, December 20, City Council meeting.

The City of Fort Wayne received $50.8 million in ARPA funds. Of this total, $5.35 million was allocated to grant opportunities for four sub-grant programs. The city administration announced recommendations for recipients of sub-grants in the tourism and public health sectors in October. These recommendations were approved by City Council.
The City of Fort Wayne’s comprehensive ARPA/state and local fiscal stimulus fund plan was developed with input from the city administration, city government division and department heads, city council, and members of the community. The City of Fort Wayne engaged Crowe as a consultant to provide professional expertise and lead the preparation of the plan.
Like many municipalities across the country, city leaders have been deliberate and thoughtful about this process to meet federal rules and eligibility criteria while providing the opportunity to meet Fort Wayne’s greatest needs by using areas of interest.
Eligible uses:
* To make necessary investments in water, sewer or broadband infrastructure
* To respond to the public health emergency or its negative economic impacts, including assistance to households, small businesses and non-profit organizations, or assistance to affected industries such as tourism, travel and the hotel industry
*For the provision of government services to the extent of reduced revenue due to the COVID-19 public health emergency compared to revenue collected in the most recent full fiscal year prior to the emergency

* Strengthening Neighborhoods – $18.2 million – Investing in vital infrastructure to support our community and help it thrive

* Securing Resilient Municipal Operations – $13.3 million – Ensuring continuity and fostering excellence in the delivery of government services to achieve maximum benefits for residents
