Recording a conversation can be useful in the short term and in the long term. Whether it’s an interview you want to take notes on later, or a call with a loved one you’d like to see and listen to someday, recording your phone conversations can be helpful.
However, before recording a conversation, be sure to ask the person(s) you are talking to if they are ok with you doing so. Some people, of course, may not want to be recorded.
Recording a conversation on your iPhone is not a feature that comes with your Apple products, which means you cannot record conversations directly from the phone app on your iPhone. However, there is an easy way to record your calls.

How to Record a Phone Call on an iPhone
An easy way to record a phone call on an iPhone is to use another Apple device with the Voice Memos app, which should already be installed on your Apple device. This app lets you record audio using your iPhone’s microphone, without the need for a cord or additional devices to help pick up sound. Voice Memos can be used on iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watch.

Before your phone call, you need to make sure that your Voice Memos app will properly record your voice by recording a short voice memo. To do this, open the app on your Apple device, tap or click the red button on your screen to record, then tap the same button to stop recording.
The red lines at the bottom of your screen, known as the audio waveform display, should tell you how much audio the app is picking up. The larger the bars, the more sound is picked up.
Before your call, make sure the Voice Memos app is ready to record. You should also remember to ask permission before recording your conversation, as some states have laws prohibiting the recording of a conversation without the consent of all parties involved. Once you have been granted permission to record, go ahead and use the Voice Memos app to record.
After your conversation, you can send the voice memo recording to yourself or others by selecting the file in the Voice Memos app and then tapping on the three dots, which will give you options on how to send it.
You can use this method to record a phone call with other recording apps like Google Voice or Otter. Otter can be particularly useful if you want to have a transcript of your conversation afterwards, as the software can transcribe voice memos.
How to Record Phone Call on iPhone via App
Some apps in Apple’s App Store market their ability to record conversations when you’re on the phone with someone. However, since Apple’s priority is to protect the privacy of its users, these third-party apps have found a way around Apple’s protections, according to ZDNET.
If you don’t have another device to record your conversation, you may want or need to use one of these apps. An application that allows you to record conversations is Rev Call Recorder. This free app allows users to record calls for free with the option to have a transcript written afterwards for “an industry low rate by a trained human transcriptionist”.
RecMyCalls also lets you record incoming or outgoing calls on your iPhone and is free to download from the App Store.
