It can be very annoying and sometimes time-consuming, interrupting your stream or daily activities when you receive unwanted calls. If you are harassed or have your concentration disturbed by unwanted calls on your iPhone, you will be happy to know that Apple has made it very easy for iPhone users block numbers on iphone and stop unwanted callers. This quick guide will walk you through the process of blocking third-party companies or old acquaintances from calling you on your iPhone, as well as blocking messages and text messages.
You’ll be happy to know there’s an easy way to block unwanted numbers and calls on your iPhone from those trying to sell you bogus products or services or just becoming a nuisance. This quick guide below will show you how to block a number on iPhone using just a few settings, freeing you from any unwanted calls that may distract you during your day.
Block numbers on iPhone
To get started, tap the green phone icon on the iPhone as if you were going to make a call, then click the “Recent» icon located in the bottom menu. As the icon’s name suggests, when pressed it will reveal a list of your most recent iPhone calls with the most recent calls listed at the top.
Simply find the number or contact you want to block from the list and tap the blue information icon to the right of the number. Once pressed you will then see the contact details of the caller, and at the bottom of this page you will see an option for “Block this caller” as shown in the images above.
By selecting this option and the pop-up asking you to confirm if you want to block the number on your iPhone, you are asking your phone to no longer accept calls from this number. Once you’ve asked your iPhone to block a number, you’ll see a confirmation that you’ve now blocked the contact when you return to the recent calls list.
Once a contact is blocked on your iPhone, the number trying to call you will be sent directly to your answering machine, where they can still leave a voicemail if they choose, but you won’t receive a notification. Additionally, any text messages they try to send to you will be blocked and a notification will appear on their iPhone that the message was not delivered. But the contact will not receive a notification that you have blocked their calls or messages.
Unblock by number
If you accidentally blocked one of your contacts by mistake, don’t worry, you can unblock an iPhone number and contact as easy as blocking them. To unblock a number on your iPhone, just tap the “Unblock this caller” option to receive calls, messages, and Facetime calls from that contact again.
List of blocked contacts
Apple also provides an easy way to check all blocked contacts you currently have, allowing you to easily view all callers, numbers, or contacts from one location. You can do this on your iPhone by going to the “Settings” and tapping the Blocked Contacts option to see the current list of blocked numbers. To view blocked FaceTime contacts, simply select FaceTime in settings and tap the “Blocked Contactsoption. Repeat the process for “Blocked Contacts” messages in the settings options located in SMS/MMS.
While we are talking about messages, if you want to filter or block any unwanted messages, you can do so by going to the Settings option and selecting “posts” then “Filter unknown senders” when activated, this will filter messages from people who are not saved in your contacts. Finally, you can also report spam iMessages on your iPhone which may be obvious spam or junk mail from the Messages app. If a message is received from someone who is not in your contact list, you will see an option for “Report spam” under the message.
I hope this quick guide will help you stop those annoying and distracting spam calls from telemarketing companies or contacts or companies you don’t like to hear about anymore. If you’re still having trouble with unwanted calls or getting your iPhone to work exactly as you expected, more information can be found on the official Apple support website.
